About our company background...
The Wm. Dickson Co., formerly the Lige Dickson Company, began its run as a company in 1933 in Aberdeen, Washington. In 1937, Mr. Elijah (Lige) Dickson moved the company to Tacoma and began performing services in earthmoving and utility work while being involved with much of the areas earliest infrastructure.
Many of Dickson’s early projects involved the development of the new freeways being built in the area. In the late 50’s early 60’s, Dickson performed the initial clearing, grading and utility work for various stretches of the Interstate-Five (I-5) freeway in Tacoma & Seattle areas and stretches of Interstate-Ninety (I-90) freeways in the Snoqualmie area.
The company continued its involvement in the areas infrastructure and demolition businesses, Dickson diversified in 1964 and began producing and laying asphalt. Dickson continued its asphalt division until 1977 when industry competition and the oil embargo made it difficult to remain profitable and continue production.
In 1971 Lige Dickson passed away and the presidency of the company was passed to his son William (Bill) Dickson who has continued operating as company’s president to the current date. The Lige Dickson Company name was changed to the Wm. Dickson Company name in 1990.
Currently, Richard Dickson, Bill Dickson’s son has assumed the full responsibility of the company’s four prominent divisions: demolition, hazardous materials abatement, site development and gravel pit operations. Richard’s commitment to growth and continuation within the focused industries remains the primary objective at the company.
